Although the year is still young, Nigerian gospel artists have churned out quite a number of impressive songs in the last few weeks. Here are some of the best that you should consider adding to your playlist and leave on repeat.

What is special about these songs? you may ask. For some, it’s the uniqueness, for others it’s the background story for others, its just something different from the regular kind of songs you have been used to. But I can guarantee that they are all inspiring and by no small means uplifting. 

What Have You Not Done – Gratitude ft J J Hairston

The fourteen-member band burst into the limelight last year with their hit song ‘Raba Baba Eh!’, for which they released a top-notch music video. They are a contemporary gospel group with each individual hand picked by American gospel singer Tye Tribet and Tim Godfrey of the Rox Nation boss, who also performs with his Xtreme Crew.

‘What Have You Not Done’ was recorded live, late last year, with American Youthful Praise choir leader J.J Hairston.

Different Case – Mike Abdul

Mike Abdul’s ‘Different Case’ is fresh from the studio.

The song is about God’s goodness and the blessings and favor we experience by being his children.

The rich, soft and rhythmic mixture of highlife and afrobeat, make you want to slow dance.

The Spaghetti Records star, whose songs are predominantly done in his English and his native Yoruba, switches to Igbo on this one.

I Beleive – Deborah Rise

From Debie Rise the secular music artiste, to Deborah Rise the gospel music minister. Rise announced her transition to strictly gospel music with her November 2018 single ‘My Choice’ and a new hairstyle.

Like ‘My Choice’, the song expresses total surrender to and absolute belief in God. It is produced by E-kelly

Imara Mma – Nicole C Mullen

Renowned Grammy nominated international gospel singer, Nicole C Mullen, has her first single out for the year. it is titled “Imara Mma” (You are beautiful).

The singer, who is perhaps most popular for her 2000 hit song “Redeemer”, singned up to Frank Edward‘s Rocktown Records. The song extols the beauty and magnificence of God and is masterly delivered in English and Igbo language.
