Tecno Launches Selfie-Centric Camon X and Camon X Pro Phones

Tecno Mobile started the year on a high note with the launch of the Tecno Camon CM – the first Tecno device to feature the elegant 18:9 display ratio.  The company just recently launched two new devices – Tecno Camon X and Tecno Camon X Pro, which also feature an 18:9 display. The two devices happen to have very high-resolution front cameras, making it an eye candy for selfie lovers. Both devices share the same physical looks – a 6.0” display with thin bezels, polycarbonate body build, and single rear and front camera setup with both front and rear flash. Nevertheless, the Tecno Camon X Pro packs the more powerful internals and high-resolution display. The Camon X has 3GB RAM with 16GB internal storage, an Octa-core MediaTek processor and a 720p display, while its older sibling has 4GB RAM with 64GB internal storage, same Octa-core processor and a 2160 x 1080p display.

Coming to the camera which seems to be what these phones are about, the Camon X has a 20MP front shooter with LED flash, and a 16MP rear camera. The Camon X Pro tops that with a 24MP front camera with LED flash and 16MP rear camera. On the software side, the front camera now has the bokeh effect (portrait mode) that puts you in focus and blurs the background, and there’s also better dynamic range.   TECNO also announced new entry level devices (F series) — TECNO F1, TECNO F2 and TECNO POP1 or F3. The F-series devices will run on the Android Oreo (Go Edition) platform which is designed for smaller phones or phones with no so much processing power. The Tecno Camon X will cost around ₦55,000 and is now available in stores, while the Camon X pro can be gotten for ₦75,000 and is also available for purchase.
