Abbas, the anointed candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), achieved a resounding victory over Idris Wase, the former deputy speaker of the ninth assembly.

On the other hand, Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, representing the Bende Federal Constituency of Abia state, has emerged as the deputy speaker of the House of Representatives in the 10th assembly.
