Keeping a bottle of water by your bedside should be part of your bedtime routine. Learning to do this will help you prioritize morning hydration. You’ll find yourself reaching for the water either before or after morning prayers. The combination of proper hydration and spiritual nourishment equips you to start your day.

Drink When You Are Thirsty

Thirst is a dehydration indicator. Listen to it. Once you have a dry mouth, drink more fluids. It will boost your hydration level thereby preventing the more serious effects of dehydration.

Avoid Excessive Caffeine And Alcohol Consumption

The drinks you take throughout the day can affect your hydration level. A lot of people habitually drink gallons of alcohol and caffeine; these drinks are diuretics and diuretics cause dehydration if they are consumed in excess. Therefore, if you want to stay hydrated, you need to go easy on the alcohol and caffeine.

Drink Water Before, During And After Meals

Liquids play several roles in the digestive process. It increases the energy gained from food. It also prevents overeating. When you start a meal without drinking water and you don’t pause in between for a drink, the chances of overeating are increased because you’ll eat to fill up your empty stomach. But drinking before or in between meals allows you a moment to check your fill. This prevents overeating.

Hydrate Before And After Workout

You need to hydrate before, during and after a workout. Drinking before a workout helps your body to function efficiently. Drinking during a workout helps you to retain your energy while drinking after a workout helps you to regain lost nutrients and electrolytes. So, when going for that workout make arrangement for a drink that will meet your body’s needs. In case you are wondering, it doesn’t have to be water. It could be a sports drink or even a smoothie.
