Melodious Singer – Simi– will be acting for the first time in a movie in Kunle Afolayan’s new film Mokalik. The agreement was signed at Afolayan’s Golden Effects office in Lagos on Sunday.

The Joromi singer, who is currently signed to X3M Music, will feature as the daughter of a woman who runs a bukka, using her own name. Simi’s role will be her acting debut. she will be acting alongside other more established actors like Faithia Williams, Femi Adebayo, Ayo Adesanya, Lateef Oladimeji, Wale Akorede, Ayo Ogunshina and DayoAkinpelu. According to Afolayan, Mokalik is different from anything he has done in the past; there will be two versions of the film, one for the Nigerian audience, and another for the international audience. The film got its title from a scene in his father Adelove’s 1983 film, Taxi Driver.

Plot

Mokalik is about an 11-year old boy who is sent to be an apprentice at the “garage” after he fails his school leaving exams. He soon begins to fall in love with his newfound vocation and is left to decide whether to continue as a mechanic or return to school.
