The Deputy National Chairman of Ohaneze Ndigbo and former Senator, Offia Nwali is dead. He passed away at the age of 74 on Sunday, May 22nd, in his hometown at Ameka Community in Ezza South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
Upon return to Nigeria in 1972 from the United States where he obtained a Ph.D. in Computer Analytical Studies from the Harvard University, Mr Nwali was appointed Chairman of School Board of the East Central State, and also worked with the East Central Data Processing Centre.
In 1979, he was elected senator to represent the Abakiliki Senatorial District at the National Assembly between 1979 and 1983.
On the 10th of October 1979, he was the first to submit a written request to the National Assembly for the creation of Ebonyi State. 17 years after this request, Ebonyi State was created during Abacha’s regime.
During the Ralph Obiora-led faction, Senator Nwali was appointed Deputy National Chairman of Ohaneze Ndigbo. He was also a PDP gubernatorial aspirant for the 2015 elections.
