Nigeria fashion designers are taking their game to the next level as they are now becoming known as designers of global worth.
Listed among the top 500 revered global fashion influencers – according to Business of Fashion (BoF) – are Reni Folawiyo, Lisa Folawiyo and Omoyemi Akerele.
Lisa Folawiyo is the founder and Creative Director of Lisa Folawiyo, and Jewel by Lisa, a reputable women’s wear brand that presents across major runways across countries. Reni Folawiyo is the Chief Executive Officer and founder, Alara, a top Lagos-based lifestyle boutique while Omoyeni Akerele, the Creative and Managing Director of Style House Files and the creative mind behind the Lagos Fashion and Design Week has with this graced the list two times in a row.
The BoF 500 list also included top design talents: Elber Albaz of Lanvin, Angela Missoni of Missoni, Carol Lim and Humberto Leon of Kenzo, Christian Louboutin, Christopher Kane, Christopher Bailey of Burberry, Donatella Versace and many more famed figures from the world of fashion.
These Nigeria fashion experts also join famous names from around the world including Amal Clooney, Bruno Pavlovsky of Chanel, Caitlyn Jenner and more who made the list.
The BoF 500 list is a professional index of the people shaping the global fashion industry based on hundreds of nominations received from current members of the BoF 500, data analysis and months of research to unearth names from all corners of the globe.
