According to the release, CICH has signed an agreement with the government of Plateau State, which will set aside over 4,000 Hectares of land for the project. The organization, which helps SMEs digitize and automate their financial operations, aims for the hub to house state-of-the-art music and movie studios, and “drive the equitable distribution of wealth in commodity markets”. Other components of the project will include a commodities exchange (NiDAX), cutting-edge manufacturing facilities, and green technology. Some of these will be part of a second phase, which will further support the creation of jobs and boost the local economy, CICH has said. Commenting on the planned tech hub, Wyclef Jean explained that the partnership was “bringing the music of innovation to the world” and “creating harmony in art and commerce”. He also expressed the hope that it would set “a standard for a brighter, greener future” for Nigeria and the world. On his part, Manasseh Muftwang, Governor of Plateau State, said “These sorts of synergies will naturally provide a platform for scaling up and exposing the young talents on the Plateau towards sharing their gifts with the world.” He added that the project would lead to the emergence of new creative talent from the state, and will allow them to reach the world with their art.
