  Ahead of Nigeria’s 2022 World Cup qualifiers doubleheader against the Central African Republic, the camp of the three-time African champions is filled to the brim following the arrival of Sparta Rotterdam shot-stopper, Maduka Okoye, on Wednesday morning (October 6).

Coach Gernot Rohr now has all 23 invited players in camp at the Eko Hotel and Suites as Nigeria looks to feast on the Central Africans. Maduka who is currently the preferred first choice amongst other goalkeepers like Francis Uzoho and Daniel Akpeyi who are also in camp is expected to join the evening session of the national team training on Wednesday. A statement from the official Facebook page of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) said: “Good morning fans, we’ve got a FULL HOUSE! Maduka Okoye is here.’’ The Super Eagles will play the first leg of the match against CAR on Thursday, October 7, 2021, at the Teslim Balogun Stadium by 5 pm (WAT) before flying to Douala for the second leg on Sunday, October 10.

Nigeria currently tops Group C of the African World Cup qualifiers with 6 points from two games after beating Liberia 2-0 in their first game at home on September 3 and a vital 2-1 away win over Cape Verde in their second game on September 7. Coach Rohr and his charges will be looking to earn all six points from the two-leg encounter which might see Nigeria book an early ticket into the next phase of qualifiers.
