  Ahead of Nigeria’s 2022 FIFA World Cup two-legged qualifiers against the Central African Republic, the head coach of the Nigerian national team, Gernot Rohr, has handed an invitation to 23 Super Eagles.

Headlined by team captain, Ahmed Musa, the team will be without the services of Leicester City of England star, Wilfred Ndidi, and Watford FC midfielder, Oghenekaro Etebo due to injuries. Regular faces in the squad include red-hot Napoli of Italy striker, Victor Osimhen, William Troost-Ekong, Paul Onuachu, Kelechi Iheanacho, Alex Iwobi, among others. Coach Rohr handed a maiden invitation to Glasgow Rangers of Scotland left-back, Calvin Bassey. Bassey, 21, who is also eligible to feature for the English and Italian national teams has bagged seven appearances for the Scottish champions so far, this season with two goals to his name. He is teammates at the club level with Super Eagles regulars, Joe Aribo, and Leon Balogun. Nigeria will play host to the Central African Republic on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, before travelling to Douala for the second leg on Sunday, October 10.
