President Muhammadu Buhari is set to visit New York, United States, today for meetings and interactions with other world leaders. This is in lieu of the 70th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations.
A statement by Mr. Femi Adesina, the special adviser to the president, on the agenda of the President’s talks, deliberations and interactions with the United Nations Secretary-General, Mr. Ban Ki-Moon, President Barack Obama of the United States, President Vladimir Putin of Russia, President Xi Jinping of China, President Francois Hollande of France, Prime Minister David Cameron of Britain, Prime Minister Narenda Modi of India, Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany, among others stated that the leaders will be discussing domestic developmental issues, bilateral relations, the war against terrorism, countering violent extremism, the enhancement of global security, peace keeping operations, climate change and the adoption of a post 2015 global development agenda.
He was personally invited to this event by Mr. Ban Ki-Moon during the Secretary-General’s recent visit to Nigeria.
