Power Generation in Nigeria Drops to 2,628.6MW, Minister Says

“Total grid generation as at 6am on Saturday is 2,628.6MW. With this low level generation, management of the grid is currently a big task, necessitating a nationwide load shedding,” Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo said in a statement at the weekend. He cited “severe leaks in the supply of gas to some strategic power plants across the country,” as the reason why power drop from the reported 4,000 MW announced weeks back. He promised a quick fix to the problem, and assured Nigerians of the commitment of the government to reducing electricity cuts.
