Nigeria sprint queen, Blessing Okagbare, confirmed her place in the final of the 200m in the Diamond League after finishing fifth in Birmingham to gather four points, increasing her total haul to 18 points, which was good enough to seal her place in Zurich cum August 29, 2019.

Okagbare will now fight to be the IAAF Diamond League champion, which comes with a $50,000 top prize money, with a wild card to Doha’s IAAF World Championships also on the table. It is also interesting to note that Okagbare will be featuring in the final of the 100m at the Memmorial Van Damme in Brussles, on September 6, 2019.

Tobi Amusan did not fail to make it to the Zurich final after finishing third in the 100m hurdles (12.71 seconds) behind 2019 world leader, Danielle Williams of Jamaica (12.46 seconds). Williams beat world record holder, Kendra Harrison of the USA (record – 12.20 seconds) who ran at 12.66 seconds.

This is the second consecutive season Amusan is making it to the final of the event. She will be hoping to beat her 12.49 seconds personal best which she ran in July, 2019 in France to earn her a podium appearance in Brussels.
