By David Stephen. One time-Education Minister, Obiageli Ezekwesili has been appointed as a director, to the board of Bharti Airtel. She was in a restructuring exercise of the board of the organization following the end of her tenure as the World Bank Vice President for Africa. Ezekwesili brought reforms to the education sector as a Minister, and was hailed for some of her programs – in Africa – with the World Bank. She holds a Master’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos and a Master’s in Public Policy and Administration from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government. She is expected to bring in her knowledge and wealth of experience to launching Bharti Airtel into new positions of revenue and presence. Bharti Airtel is a leading telecommunication organization, with presence in the Asia and Africa. Speaking on the restructuring, the Managing Director of Bharti Airtel, Sunil Bharti Mittal, said: “These changes have been effected in line with our strong corporate governance culture and will ensure that Bharti and Singtel have distinct representatives on the Boards of Bharti Airtel and Bharti Infratel. I am confident that these two world-class Boards will continue to guide these companies to greater heights. I would also take this opportunity to thank the outgoing Directors for their contribution to the Board of Bharti Airtel.”
