Actions continued on Matchday 21 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) as Abia Warriors beat eight-time league champions Enyimba 2-1 in the oriental derby held on Wednesday, April 6, 2022. A 30th-minute strike from Yakub Hammed gifted Abia Warriors the lead before Odoh Valentine made it 2-0 in the 38th minute. Enyimba would pull one back in the late minutes of the first half through a Pascal Eze goal, but it was not enough as the Peoples Elephant fell to the Warriors.

Elsewhere, Enugu Rangers beat visiting Katsina United 1-0 to hold firm their third position on the Nigerian league table. ChukwuebukaOkorie scored the only goal of the game. In Ikenne, Remo Stars beat MFM 1-0 to retain their fourth spot on the league log. SikiruAlimi’s strike in the third minute of the game made the difference for the Ogunbote led Remo Stars.

Dakkada moved up to the 15th spot on the league table, easing their relegation worries after a 2-0 win over visiting Kwara United. Strikes from Emmanuel Anyaosi (34th minute) and Etido Dan (90th minute) were enough for the Uyo-based side to claim all three points.

League leaders Rivers United will host Lobi Stars in a crunch tie on Thursday, April 7 by 4 pm (WAT), while second-placed Plateau United will also play host to Niger Tornadoes, the same time and day. Wikki Tourists of Bauchi will be seeking to move back into the top 10 when they host Sunshine Stars at the AbubakarTafawaBalewa Stadium on Thursday.
