In the previous election article, it was stated that the Chairman of INEC, Prof. Attahiru Jega would confirm the winner of the 2015 Nigeria Presidential elections after the announcement of state results by collation officers.
In an interesting turn of events, the press briefing was temporarily suspended at approximately 11.10 p.m yesterday and scheduled to continue today at 10 a.m.
Upon commencement, today’s announcements were briefly disrupted by the former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Orubebe who accused Jega of partiality in favour of the All Progressives Congress.
He complained of INEC’s acceptance of APC’s petition regarding the Rivers state election, while refusing to accept that of the PDP against results of Kano, Kaduna and Jigawa States. The issue was settled amicably and the announcement of results continued without a hitch.
