Do you find yourself constantly scratching your hair? Well you’re not alone. There are times you not only scratch, you tap and hit your head and of course that could be embarrassing especially if you’re in public, or on a first date with your crush or worse you just did your nail and can’t even afford to scratch (nothing can be as bad as this one).
Several conditions may cause itchy scalp; could be dry skin, dandruff, sweat, allergic reactions etc. Of course treatment for dandruff might help like using an anti-dandruff shampoo, but most times once you discontinue use, it could start all over again.
The good news is that there are natural remedies to get rid of itchy scalp. they should relive you completely plus there are no side effects to using them.
Apple cider vinegar (ACV)
ACV balances scalp’s pH levels which relieves itching and dryness. It creates a hostile environment for fungal infections and because of its anti-inflammatory properties it reduces the inflammation that results from the dryness and itchiness. The acetic acid present in apple cider vinegar makes it a natural cleanser that eliminates dead skin cells and any other build up on the scalp. It also opens up clogged pores and acts as a mild conditioner which gives your hair a healthy shine.
Aloe vera
Aloe vera soothes itchy scalp. It contains anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and moisturizing substances which helps relieve from itching and dryness. It also contains properties that treat your scalp against fungi and yeast. The amino acids in aloe vera facilitate growth of healthy tissue giving your hair a shiny look with a clean scalp.
Baking soda
The alkaline nature of baking soda helps balance the pH level of your hair and to relieve itchiness. Not only that, it also cleanses the scalp and prevents dandruff which is caused by overactive fungi.
Lemon juice
Lemon juice helps treat itchy, dry scalp well because of its antiseptic properties. It has a low pH level which makes it perfect as an antibacterial agent. And if you’re looking for natural highlights it might also lighten up your hair color.
Banana plus Avacado
I love this one, because after use it not only rids itchy scalp it also leaves your hair smelling really nice and fresh. Banana and Avacado contains strong nourishing properties that conditions and moisturizes your hair; this treats dandruff inflammation and dryness. It also helps promote hair growth and makes your hair shiny.
Olive oil, mayonnaise and Broccoli
These help to hydrate your scalp and reduce the oiliness, clear hair lice and also add shine to hair. Broccoli cleanses your hair thoroughly.
Coconut oil
Coconut oil moisturizes the scalp well and improves healthy hair. It also rids your hair of itchiness and dryness. It reduces redness and irritation. The antibacterial properties in coconut oil fights ‘folliculitis’ a hair infection and other fungal scalp infections. Coconut oil could be used to prevent dandruff as well. It also acts as a hair agent to protect and keep hair soft and silky.
To prevent itchy scalp altogether:
- Reduce hair products with chemicals.
- Don’t always wash hair with hot water.
- Use hair moisturizing oil to avoid dry scalp.
- Maintain basic healthy hygiene.
- Dry hair properly after washing.
- Change hair products often.
- Drink lots of water to keep you hydrated.
- Eat healthy and add fruits.
