The busy life in Lagos has had many people stow away their pots and pans, no wonder food is a major business in Lagos. There’s probably a food vendor at every corner selling Nigerian delicacies; these food vendors are commonly called Mama Put. People still want homemade affordable food despite their busy schedules and so they turn to these joints to satisfy their appetites. We’ve put together our top 10 of these Mama Put joints in Lagos.

Also called First Bank Amala, they serve a variety of Nigerian dishes. The staff are also efficient and work with an admirable speed; the tables are cleaned up as soon as they’re vacated and the waiters are quick on their feet. Also at Surulere, Bank Olemoh designer rice has a reputation for being addictive. Their stew is like no other and makes you want to eat rice every day. Address: 14 Bank Olemoh street, Surulere, Lagos

The crowd at Amala Belgium is enough to tell how delicious their food is. But don’t worry about the crowd, when you finally settle at your table with your food you’ll see it was worth the wait. Address: Parliament road, Jakande Estate Mile Two, Amuwo Odofin, Lagos
