The Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, has put in place facilities that will enable the Department of Theatre Arts at the Lagos State University (LASU) offer professional film studies from the next academic session. This much was revealed by Dr. Sola Fasudo, the school’s Director of Communications and veteran Nollywood actor. The True Confession star stated this a few days back when he was a guest on a morning TV program last Saturday. The former Head of Theatre Arts at the institution praised Nollywood for its tremendous growth before pointing out that the lack of fresh and well trained young professionals could stall or kill the now thriving movie industry. He however assured Nigerians that there is hope with the birth of film studies at the Lagos State University. The ebony skinned thespian thanked Governor Fashola for the love and support he has shown Nollywood, while promising that the school will ensure an effective curriculum that will produce through professionals who will lead Nollywood and the film industry in Africa.
