Salamatu Rabiu Musa, Governor of Kano State, has led a delegation on a visit to the Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA), United Arab Emirates. The DSOA is the regulatory body for Dubai Silicon Oasis, an integrated free zone technology park. Shahla Ahmed Abdul Razak, Deputy CEO, DSOA, welcomed the nine-member delegation that included Kano’s Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Danburam Abubakar Nuhu and business executives from organizations including IRS Airlines. Shahla Ahmed Abdul Razak said, “DSO is committed to building solid relationships with different regions and countries that facilitate the exchange of expertise and knowledge and help attract foreign direct investments to DSO. We are confident that establishing talks with the Nigerian delegation will strengthen trade relations with the Nigerian firms that can benefit from the tech park’s best-in-class offerings.” Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed, Chairman of Board, Rochester Institute of Technology, Dubai, said, “We are pleased to welcome the Nigerian delegation who showed great interest in RIT Dubai supported by the government of Dubai through Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority. We have achieved great results this year through attracting students that are looking at exploring innovative educational programs. We hope to attract students from around the region and such interactions offer a valuable platform to introduce our capabilities to countries from the Middle East and Africa region.” Governor Salamatu Rabiu Musa, in response, applauded “the visionary initiatives of the Dubai government and expressed optimism on leveraging the collaboration opportunities and synergy with the high-tech park and RIT – Dubai.” A wholly-owned entity of the Dubai Government, Dubai Silicon Oasis is regarded an ideal location of choice for tech companies seeking to establish their regional headquarters or research and development facilities in the Middle East and Africa region.
