Veteran Nollywood actress, Joke Silva, will be receiving the Woman of Integrity Award next month at the Nigerian Association of Christian Journalist’s Annual Integrity Lecture/Awards. The actress will be presented with the award alongside Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, who will be honoured as the Integrity Man of the Year. Other important personalities that will be decorated at the event include popular Yoruba singer, 9ice, nominated for the  Young Person of Integrity Award, as well as politicians, corporate executives and the head of a thriving Christian denomination. The lecture and awards, themed Integrity is Everything,  are aimed at encouraging integrity in the midst of prevalent corruption. It is rewarding outstanding personalities and leaders who have shown integrity in their daily dealings. A statement signed by the organisation’s secretary, Charles Okhai reads:
“Today, nations all over the world are yearning for men of integrity to occupy their corridors of power because integrity is the cornerstone of good leadership that ensures a healthy society. Fostering integrity, preventing corruption in all sectors are essential to maintaining trust in governance and infrastructural developments in a society like ours. “Against this backdrop, Nigerian Association of Christian Journalists is poised to encourage and acknowledge integrity against corruption as she rolls out drums to celebrate a few [of] Nigeria’s illustrious sons and daughters who have been able to hold on to the virtues of integrity in their daily lifestyle as leaders.”

Joke Silva started acting in the early 90s with Mind Bending being her first movie. She has since been a shinning light in the industry and an inspiration for younger people building a career in the arts. She is Director of Studies at the Lufodo Academy of Performing Arts, founded by herself and her husband, Olu Jacobs, who is also a veteran actor. Silva is the managing director of the Malete Film Village. Among her many awards are Best Actress in a Leading Role, received at the Africa Movie Academy Awards (2006) and Best Actress in a Supporting Role in the 2008 edition of the awards. She is a Member of the Order of the Federal Republic, and a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
