A few hints to check our behaviour and consumption as they affect climate change and the environment at large are thereby highlighted below:

Don’t Cut Trees, Plant Them Instead
The simple translation of development for a lot of
Nigerians is gradually moving into cutting trees in any expanse of land. As the development grows into rural areas and urban areas expand, the elements of nature are being hacked down.
Whereas, studies have suggested that the most effective method to combat climate change is simply to
plant trees. We should be instituting the culture of planting trees across the various facets of the society
Reviving deforested areas with cultured tree-planting can accelerate the regeneration of carbon-capturing forests. And if every living soul on earth planted a tree, we could have about 7 billion more trees helping to flourish the environment and climate.

Use Cooking Gas, Reduce Carbon Footprint
A lot of Nigerians are moving over from using firewood and kerosene to gas for their household cooking. The moderate cost of cooking gas within the country has made it approachable to even some low income earning households.
These means of cooking are more harmful to the environment as a result of the greenhouse gases they produce. Meanwhile, cooking gas is relatively cheap and safer for the environment.

If firewood, charcoal and kerosene remain so relegated among the options adopted for household cooking, we would be helping the environment to heal faster than it is being depleted.

Install Solar Panels & Inverter
For those who have enough information on fairly cheap solar and inverter power solutions, they have largely jettisoned diesel and petrol generators for generating electricity.
For those who cannot afford the cost of acquiring
solar panels, getting an inverter as small as 1.5KVA capacity could cut the necessity and added cost of using generators whenever power is interrupted.

Use Biodegradable Packaging only
In some countries in Europe, non-biodegradable packaging such as polythene bags has been banned from use. Other packaging materials such as paper bags, jute, and banana trees derivatives are being used to package items bought in supermarket and malls.
Non-biodegradable material does not decompose when disposed of in refuse dumps after use. Man-made materials that cannot decompose are dangerous to the environment and are ultimately unfriendly to the climate as well.

Preserve Nature and Wildlife
Some animals and some plants have gone extinct. Many more of the numbers of these products of nature are fast running into extinction because of indiscriminate human consumption and depletion.
For instance, African elephants are now rarely seen in forests simply because they have withdrawn largely from human contact. They are being hunted down by traffickers for their pricey tusks.
The extinction of certain plant species and animals contributing to a safe climate will offset the normal of things of which climate is one.
