There are many times where I’ve had a wardrobe crisis because I felt and looked fat in whatever I put on. On such days, the needle on how sexy and confident I feel about myself definitely pointed towards the negative side of the scale. At those times, I resorted to the usual jeans and t-shirt or I cancelled my outing for that day (if I could help it) or I just squeezed into the outfit and felt miserable throughout that day. I know a whole lot of us ladies have felt like this one time or the other so I believe these tidbits on how to dress slimmer would come as a great relief to us all. Comfy Cardigans: Slenderize with fine-textured knits that skim trouble spots but still show your shape. Highlight the thinnest part of your torso — right below the bust — with a single strategically placed button. Choose a V-neck with body-conscious ribbing where you want attention and a generous hemline where you do n’t. Select a cardigan that is part shawl, part sweater and artfully drapes around a problematic midsection. Trousers for Allover Control: Appear svelte in seconds with these stealth slenderizers. Trousers with stretchy, supportive fabric glide over jiggly areas and foolproof fit (sleek and just slightly boot cut) flatters every figure. Skirts for a Sexy Silhouette: High-waist skirts are diversionary dynamos. They seem to raise the waist, make you look leggier, and hit at the narrowest part of the rib cage to emphasize curves (in a good way). Career Blazers: Top off your look with a fitted blazer. Give an old one hanging in your closet a modern update by removing the shoulder pads. Haute Heavyweights: Wear pants in a heavier fabric like wool gabardine or cotton twill. These materials drape in a flattering way. A Versatile Top-and-Bottom Combo: A short-sleeve crew-neck sweater paired with an A-line skirt slims your silhouette and creates a feminine look that works whether you’re at the office or going out on a dinner date. A Classic Jacket for Full Coverage: Yes, a bouclé topper is every-gal wearable Slacks for Thinner Thighs: Pants with a button-tab waist draw attention upward, while a straight-cut leg, with one easy width from hip to hem, camouflages your problem area without adding too much volume. Suit yourself: A suit can make you sleeker — but only if the jacket is fitted and the pants are straight-legged. A Tall-Order Dress: For a top half that needs extra length, reach for pieces with eye-fooling effects. A deep V-neck empire dress (the waist hits just under the bust) pulls attention upward, while a banded-hem shirt, worn untucked, elongates the torso. Sheath Chic: An asymmetrical structured dress with lining streamlines your silhouette. Shiny patent pumps and a purse are all you need to go from the corner office to cocktails. Pants for Minimizing Hips: Take curves undercover with herringbone trousers. The higher waist, the pocket-free front, and the skinny self-belt all work to create an unbroken line — and a sophisticated, slim silhouette. Distract with Details: An interesting neckline draws the eye away from your hips and tummy. Slacks for Long Gams: Taller, slimmer, leggier: That’s how you’ll appear in smartly pared-down trousers. With no pockets and no pleats, flat-front slacks create a lithe line that subtracts pounds. Pick pants that start slightly above your natural waist and extend all the way to your shoe tops, so gams look miles long. Emphasize Your Assets: A knee-length, A-line skirt made of a structured fabric minimizes thighs and shows off shapely calves. Love-Your-Body Skirts: Play up hourglass curves — without overemphasizing them. Bonus: Wearing a hefty man’s watch makes any wrist seem minuscule. Im sure I heard sighs of relief over this feminine crisis. Try these tricks and see the transformation play before your eyes, regain that sexy and confident edge and say goodbye to the fat looks. Cheers.
