Guaranty Trust Bank Plc (GTBank) was awarded the ‘Best Banking Group – Nigeria’ at the 2013 Annual World Finance Banking Awards, recently. Segun Agbaje, Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of GTBank, won the award for ‘Banker of the Year – Africa’ last weekend as judges scored the bank high for its innovation and product offering in the financial services industry. GTBank won because the organisers “Scored the bank high in the area of innovation and product offering in the financial services industry. And GTBank’s regional reach to cover high growth markets; significant proof of continuous development; strong corporate governance and corporate social responsibility were all evaluated.” According to the organisers, “Our judging panel boasts over 230 years of financial and business journalism, supported by a research team that works round the clock to ensure our award winners are the most deserving in their sector”. In his comments Segun Agbaje said, “It was in recognition of the hard work and dedication of the management and staff members of the bank. He also thanked the bank’s customers for their trust and continued support and promised to continue to strive to deliver beyond their expectation. “We are a proudly African and truly international institution and we are committed to the ideal that our stakeholders should be better off for partnering with us. This principle influences our operations, products, style of service delivery and corporate culture.”
