The General Manager of the Osun State Emergency Management Agency (OSEMA), Oyetunde Oyesiji  has said that the government had intensified its sensitization campaign to avert flood disasters. He said that the government has been on top of the situation as regard curbing flooding, which has been a perennial problem in the state, “With the prediction of heavy downpour in some states, Osun inclusive, the state government has doubled its efforts in the dredging of rivers, waterways and canals. “It has also improved on its sensitization campaigns in the market places, mosques, churches motor parks and other public gatherings on ways of preventing flooding and other natural disasters. Owners of residential buildings and shops were advised to examine the roofs of their houses and carry out necessary maintenance, to avert being blown off in a wind storm,” he said. Oyesiji said that all measures would be maximally utilised at checkmating flooding in the state, adding that effective disaster management would be the priority of the state government. He appealed to residents of the state to abide by the environmental sanitation regulations, to make the state free of flooding this year.
