Reacting to the development, Nigeria’s vice president, Professor Yemi Osibanjo, during the launch, tagged plagiarism as corruption and noted that it is an act of intellectual theft. Prof. Osibanjo went further to state that the launch of EagleScan shows that there is no tolerance for plagiarism in Nigeria, and described it as “part of the core mandates of President Muhammadu Buhari Administration.”

Also, Professor Sandy Onor, the Deputy Chairman, Senate Committee on Higher Education, and Chairman of the Occasion, hailed the software and disclosed that it will address the challenges associated with the authentification and validation of research.
