Waking up to the news of Evans’s Disappearance on Saturday, 8th July, 2017, had many spectators who had been observing his scripted activities in dismay. Chukwuduneme Onwuamadike, a suspected kidnapper kingpin, popularly referred to as Evans was reported by a popular newspaper to have “vanished”. One wonders what magic tricks he must have used to make himself invisible. It is alright to be apprehensive in a country where boku cash can set you free. Especially because it had been revealed that Evans was released after being arrested in 2006 for alleged bank robbery, and that a policewoman was involved in his evasion of justice. There has been a conspiracy theory of a forced disappearance. A lot of information and sheer name calling is ongoing in relations to his various confessions. A reason that has led many to agree to the theory that Oga is involved. There is an uneasiness that the big wigs mentioned moved him, this can be collaborated with the report that thirty armed security officials were involved in moving him from Lagos Prison to an undisclosed location in Abuja. “The Truth would set you free, maybe…..”As a defendant, Evans’ arrest led to a lot of revealing testimonies. Discoveries after his arrest are a result of his personal confession story. He has given several stories admitting to his guilt while defending himself. If telling the truth has earned his freedom or his VIP police custody at Abuja, well, it pays to tell the truth. Abi? A police source eventually confirmed that Evans was moved to a secret location in Abuja and claims the suspect had to be moved for proper investigation to be carried out. Perhaps it was not a bad move after all. All that media attention might impede the proceedings of his prosecution. Due to the sensitivity of his case, as he is being interrogated for extremely sensitive information. His transfer might have been necessary in order to avoid public trial, as his actions has swayed public opinion. For someone who has changed the face of kidnapping, it is clear that Nigerians are on the sidelines waiting for the next scene in The Billionaire Kidnapper’s Saga. We continue to wait!
