Cornflakes is type of cereal manufactured from toasted flakes of corn, sometimes eaten with milk and sugar. It is most certainly a popular breakfast choice around the world.grains

Here are facts you probably didn’t know about cereal:

  • Kellogg’s Cornflakes was made by Mr Kellogg in the late 19th century.
  • The first manufactured breakfast cereal ‘granula’, created by Dr. James Jackson in 1863, had to be soaked overnight before it could be consumed.
  • The word cereal comes from Ceres, the Roman goddess of harvest and agriculture. Cerealia was a festival in honour of the grain goddess
  • March 7th is Cereal Day
  • The astronauts aboard Apollo 11, the first moon landing, ate Kellogg’s Cornflakes
  • Contrary to what our mothers believe, corn flakes are healthy; they are rich in thiamine – thiamine is essential for metabolism and energy production
  • Cornflakes has very little cholesterol, making it an excellent breakfast choice for people with heart conditions.
