If you have obi eji eli ego (a love for enjoyment), an open mind and an adventurous clique, you can have fun wherever you are. There are hangout spots that you’ve not visited in your hometown or city of residence. Now’s the time to check them out. But if you and your squad would prefer to relax at home, you can have parties, movie nights and game nights at home without stress. Detty December is the extravagant enjoyment of the proceeds of all the hard work that we have put in from January to November. Simply put, it’s about having mad fun. Now, there are two interesting things to note about Detty December. The first is that you cannot have it without some delicious treats. The second is that you must not have fun on the streets. Yes, you heard me right. You can actually have a good time at home. Here are some treats that you can either enjoy at home or on the streets on Christmas season:

Isi Ewu

Don’t kid yourself. You can’t chill with the big boys without this food. Isi Ewu is a well-sauced goat meathead. This food is the only Nigerian food that has particulars. These particulars (eyes, ears and tongue) are kept whole by restauranteurs because clients wey sabi dey search and find these particulars (the eyes, ears and tongue) before digging into their plates.

Chapman

Gist and this cocktail are like bread and butter. Chapman is so refreshing. It is available at bars and restaurants around you. But it’s also the perfect drink for a family Christmas or new year’s eve party.

Pepper Soup

This soup will give you the ginger you need to Detty this December. Pepper soup is a hearty, intensely flavoured soup that can be prepared with your choice of animal. It has healing and restorative properties but it is delicious gan! If you go out with friends on a chilly evening, order a bowl of soup and it will ward off the chill.

Peppered Snail

There is something addictive about this spicy finger food. Thankfully, it’s neither illegal nor difficult to find. It’s just a tastefully expensive treat. Nwanne, ijikwa ego (do you have money)? If you have your money, you can either go out to find peppered snail or peppered snail will come home to you. Either way, spicy goes well with chilled. So, what chilled drink are you having?

You can bring home the fun by having a movie date night with family or friends. For optimum enjoyment,  pick the movie before the day. Arrange for different flavours of popcorn, the official movie snacks and some cold drinks to wash them down. Then, you and your crew can get as cozy as possible to enjoy the movie of your choice.

Milkshakes

The best kind of milkshakes is the ones we make at home. The taste and the flavours are always incredible. They are healthy too and suitable for all age groups. My favourite milkshakes for the season are Oreos milkshake and blueberry milkshake. These, like other milkshake varieties, can even be spiked with alcohol.

Asun

This is the grandfather of the peppered meat family. It’s everything spicy and delicious. Need I say more? I’ll like to conclude on this note. December is a great time to relax and have fun. But you must not spend extravagantly to have fun. Besides, you must also remember that as the old year is ending, a new one is beginning. Thus, if you don’t detty your December with sense, you will begin January. Merry Christmas, My Beautiful People. Featured Image Source: My Diaspora Kitchen
