Organizers officially announced Davido as one of the nominees of the 2019 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards on Tuesday, 26th February.

In the nominations announced by YouTube star, Liza Koshy, in Nickelodeon’s first-ever live stream event, the “Fall” singer is being nominated along with BlackPink, David Guetta, Taylor Swift, J Balvin and HRVY in the Favorite Global Music Star category of the awards.
Other popular music icons nominated for awards in this year’s edition include: American rapper Cardi B with three nominations; Maroon 5 for Favorite Music Group; Bruno Mars; DJ Khaled; Drake and Justin Timberlake in the Favorite Male Artist category; and Beyonce for Favorite Female Artist. Also nominated are Marvel’s superhero movie, Avengers: Infinity War, with ten nominations; and Black Panther with five.
Reacting to the news, the Nigerian music star wrote on Instagram:
“Feels good to be nominated alongside the Greats!! Make
una nojonze oo we fit winoooo !! Vote for me as Favorite Global Star at the @nickelodeon Kids choice Awards 2019 ??❤️? AFRICA LETS TAKE THIS ONE!”
The singer was also in last year’s nomination list. He got nominated in the Favorite African Star category, which was won by Ugandan pop singerm Eddy Kenzo. Other nominees in the category were Nigeria’s Emmanuella, Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz, Cassper Nyovest and Caster Semenya from South Africa.
It will be recalled that Davido recently celebrated his record, as the first Nigerian with the longest charting song on Billboard. His hit song “Fall” debuted at number 48 and was on the chart for four weeks, peaking at number 29. It is also on the Top 40 Urban Radio Charts in the United States. He also celebrated his hugely successful sold out concert in London earlier in the month of February.
Voting for all categories of the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards 2019 can be done online at KCA2019.com and on the Nick Play app, while voting for selected categories can be done on Twitter and Instagram.
The 32nd Annual Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards are scheduled for Saturday, March 23, at the Galen Center in Los Angeles, with DJ Khalid as host.
