Cowries RFC defeated Gosar RFC over the weekend at the main bowl of the National Stadium, Surulere to retain the Lagos Men’s Rugby league title.

Both sides had a rather lacklustre start with both teams fighting hard to get on the front foot. Minutes later, Cowries RFC had the game in their control as team captain Onoru Jatto backed by Christian Ogar and Henry Ani made certain that the defending champions remained on top as they brushed off Gosar RFC 42-0 to retain their league title.

Gosar, who was totally outclassed by the champions, has been relegated to division two because they could not make enough points to remain at the top flight after the final series of matches.

Meanwhile, Eco II was promoted to division one after their division two victory. Kings College defeated Lagos Rugby Club 5-3 in the first match of the day, to finish in third place.

Lagos State champions, Cowries RFC, will now face South-South/South-East League champions to decide who will represent the Southern zone in the Super Cup later in November.

In the Northern League, Plateau Rugby Club was crowned champion of the North Central after they defeated Nasarawa 35-22 in Jos. The North Central League title holder will now face the North West champions to also decide which team will represent the Northern zone at the Super Cup.
