Buying a car should depend on the intended use. Since cars are designed by manufacturers for different purposes like luxury, for sport or travel, it is important that buyers purchase cars that in the end would meet their needs. Below are different classes of cars.
- SUV (Sport Utility Vehicles)
Within this group are the land rover, hummer, and Toyota FJ Cruiser. Unlike the name, they are not sports cars, rather, they are designed for rugged off-road capabilities. They are suitable for carrying large families, as they possess a wider passenger and cargo space.
They are mostly designed as shuttle cars, with a minimum size space for luggage. Examples of wagons are; Mercedes-Benz, Chevrolet, Avant, MCV, Tourer and Estate.
Also called saloon, the sedan is a passenger car designed to carry passengers and their baggage on a customary basis. Various types include notchback sedans, hardtop sedans, fastback sedans and chauffeur sedans.
- Luxury cars
These cars are designed to give higher quality equipment, better performance, prestige and status. They are simply for luxury and are often cost a fortune.
The functions of the minivan are highly versatile, as they are designed to transport a larger number of people and luggage comfortably. Examples include Honda Odyssey, Toyota Sienna and Dodge Grand Caravan.
Also called a drop-top, these cars are designed with a removable or retractable top. They provide all-round visibility, maximized ventilation, and ease of entry and exit.
The coupe is a luxurious two-door sport car. Examples are Cadillac coupe de Ville, Honda civic coupe, BMW E46, Mercedes-Benz-CLS.
They combine the features of the SUV and passenger vehicles like the wagon. They are designed for light off-road capability. Examples of the crossover are Chevrolet Trax, Hyundai ix25, Peugeot 2008, Min-Countryman, Acura ZDX and Audi Q7.
They provide easy transport of light cargoes and possess an easy access to the cargoes via its rear. Examples of the hatchback are; Ford Focus, Scion TC 2009, Nissan Versa Note S Plus, Mazda 31 Sport and Hyundai Accent GS.
