  Nigerian sprint queen, Blessing Okagbare, on Sunday, February 7, 2021, hit double personal best in the American Track League event in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The fastest Nigerian woman ran an impressive 7.17 seconds in the 60 meters heat (equaling her personal best).

In the final, she went on to achieve another remarkable feat with a new personal best of 7.10s to finish first in the race ahead of Jamaica’s Christiana Williams (7.14s), and United State’s Teahna Daniels (7.17s). Okagbare’s feat is also the joint second-fastest in the world. Okagbare, 32, did not relent despite finishing top of the 60 meters heat as she went on hit another feat in the 200m event with a new personal best of 23.01s. Aside from setting a new personal best and emerging top of the 200m race, her time of 23.01s is the second-fastest to be run by a Nigerian woman since Regina George’s national indoor record of 23.00s in 2013 in the same venue.

Reacting to her double, Okagbare in a tweet noted:
‘I won the 60M @americantrack yesterday and also won my heat in the 200M. Both came with a new personal best. I am excited #Fam.’ Blessing Okagbare
