Beverly Naya has won the award for Best Actress at the just concluded TNIFF 2018 (The Nollywood International Film Festival).

The actress who was absent at the event, won the award for her role in the film “Demon Inside”, from an award category that comprised herself, Yvonne Jegede Fawole, Adesua Etomi, Rahama Sadau, comic actress; Chigurl, and Tokumbo Idowu, better known as T’boss.
Beverly Naya started acting at 17, while studying in England. She graduated with a degree in philosophy, psychology and sociology from Brunel University, and also studied script-writing and film-making before deciding to return home to Nigeria to fully pursue a career in acting.
“After I graduated from university, I just knew that I wanted to act, I knew I wanted to act, and in London, I could shoot a film probably once in a year and that’s it. Whereas coming into this industry, I can build a brand as well as shoot films more often and be given a more diverse amount of scripts. So, I decided to come back for that reason.” — Naya
Her acting career in Nollywood started with a bang, with her winning the Most Promising Talent award at the Best of Nollywood Awards in 2010, and the Fastest Rising Actress award at the City People Entertainment Awards the following year. The driven actress has shown excellent acting, gracing the silver screens:
  • Guilty Pleasures (2009),
  • When Love Happens (2014),
  • Before 30 (2015),
  • The Wedding Party 1 and 2 (2016 and 2017),
  • The Eve (2018) and
  • TV series, Tinsel
The Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival, which held on the 25th and 26th of August, was the second ever edition of the awards. Last year, the best actress award went to Ghana’s Joselyn Dumas.
