Best Artist of the Continent to Win 1 Million Dollars at Kora Awards

The organisers of the prestigious pan African music awards, Kora Awards have revealed that the winner of the “Best Artist of the Continent” category at this year’s edition of the award will receive a grand prize of 1 million dollars as it officially calls for entries from musicians across the African continent and diaspora.

This year’s edition, according to the organisers, is targeted at celebrating excellence in musical artistry in Africa and the diaspora, has 27 categories across regions and genres, and a monetary reward associated with each trophy.

Kora said only artistes who have been voted as best of their region on the continent will be eligible for the Best Artist of the Continent trophy and prize while also revealing that the financial reward for other categories will only be given to award winners who are in attendance at the awards ceremony with absent artists receiving the trophy alone.

The organisers further stated eligibility requirements for other categories:

1. The song or songs participating in the competition must have been released between January 1st, 2014 and July 15th , 2015

2. The songs must be of good quality, must not be damaged and must be readable on any drive.

The event will take place on the 13th of December, 2015 in Windhoek, Namibia.
