Have you been wondering what happened to Daddy Showkey and Baba Fryo? Well, we have news for you. The two ghetto soldiers may collaborate on a track together.

The legendary eye patch wearing “ghetto singer” Friday Igwe (popularly known as
Baba Fryo), who made waves in the 90s with his song
Dem go dey pose, has disclosed that he is working on a music project that may feature one-time rival, the dreadlock-wearing, self-acclaimed ghetto soldier and gala master
Daddy Showkey.
The two artistes, who originate from Ajegunle, had a fierce rivalry at the peak of their fame, each laying claim to
Galala until the spotlight moved to music groups and artistes like The Remedies, Plantashun Boys, and African China. Now that the dust has settled more than two decades later, they are working on getting back mainstream attention with his new project.
Fryo said in the interview with Channels TV that although he will still be doing dancehall, his sound will evolve to accommodate the more modern music style. He, however, does not foresee a collaboration with any of the new artistes.
They each have two well-received albums with songs that got heavy rotation back in the day. Songs like Showkey’s
Diana, Fire Fire, Somebody Call my Name, Fryo’s most popular song was the
“Dem go dey pose” song. These songs became national anthems and brought them fame. Their kind of music is influenced by reggae, pidgin English and the streets of Ajegunle where they grew up.
