The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo), and their co-venture partners have announced that Nigerian students who meet specific criteria can apply for the 2021 NNPC/SNEPCo National University Scholarship Program. The organizers of this scholarship program say it’s designed to drive academic excellence among young Nigerians. Beneficiaries will receive yearly grants from their second year at their university to their final year there.

Eligibility

Persons interested in applying for this scholarship must meet these conditions:
  • Be a citizen of Nigeria currently in their second year of study at a Nigerian Federal or State University.
  • Have a minimum CGPA of at least 3.5 on a 5-grade scale.
  • Not a recipient of any other scholarship, whether national or international.
  • Female students are especially encouraged to apply.
Note that application for this scholarship is free. However, only shortlisted candidates will be invited to take the qualification computer-based test.

The Application Process

Candidates who meet the requirements above can submit their applications online on the Scholastica platform (which is the only recognized platform for registrations). They are expected to fill in their personal and educational details, and upload scanned copies of these documents:
  • A recent passport-sized photograph of theirs (JPEG format, at most 200kilobytes).
  • UTME result.
  • JAMB or University admission letter.
  • O’ Level results, ‘A’ Level/OND/NCE results where applicable.
  • Academic results for 100 level (2019/2022 academic session).
  • Letter of identification indicating applicant’s local government of origin.
