Transporting heavy products and parcels from one place to another is quite challenging and unpleasant, especially in Lagos. Most times, it takes a full day to select the proper vehicle and persevere through long traffic jams. This, in addition, to the excessive cost of ordering good vehicles can take a toll on any business or individual.

To solve this problem, TruQ, a new logistics firm located in Lagos, is enabling consumers and businesses to gain access to efficient and affordable delivery vehicles to reduce the burden of carrying large products Williams Fatayo (CEO), Foluso Ojo (COO), and Isaac Chikutukutu founded the company in February 2020. (CTO), and launched its mobile application on October 8, 2020. TruQ operates on an Uber-like model, which allows users to hail several types of cars, such as minivans, pickup trucks, or vans, based on the size and type of product they need to deliver. According to Williams, TruQ recognises the difficulties people face when moving large objects, therefore it is providing users with on-demand assistants to help them transport their items and ensure that these items stay secure and reach the point of delivery in the same condition as when they were picked up. The company has onboarded over 70 drivers and recorded over 500 rides since its inception. TruQ, like Uber and other on-demand logistics businesses, bases its pricing on distance. Each vehicle category has a base pricing, according to the startup: Minivan: 4,000, Pickup: 4,500, Van: 8,000, and Box truck: 25,000.

It also ensures that prices are calculated by measuring the distance between two points on a map. Truq provides users with a digital wallet that can be topped up with money from your bank account. To deposit money into your wallet, simply enter an amount, and the Flutterwave payment API linked with the app will allow you to send funds using your cards. According to the company, drivers on the TruQ platform can be completely trusted since every new driver on the platform undergoes a thorough vetting and onboarding procedure. As a result, Drivers use the app as well. The platform has a page called “Register Vehicle” where interested vehicle owners can register their automobiles. The page requires the driver to enter information such as the vehicle’s make, colour, model, year of production, registration number, category, tonnage capacity, vehicle photo, and insurance, among other things.
