The Africa Movie Academy Awards, AMAA, has revealed it will be rewarding African journalists with a special recognition award, Media Recognition Award, which will also come with cash prizes of $5000, $3000, and $2000 for 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. The award category which is open to African journalists including print, broadcast and online journalists who have covered and published significant reports about the award in its last nine editions will have their entries reviewed by a five-man panel of media professionals. The organizers also revealed a five-point guideline for submission of entries which are: 1. Journalist are to submit two original feature stories on AMAA published within the last nine years. 2. Journalists who do not have published work or who want to submit two fresh stories can submit stories written from December 1, 2013 to February 28, 2014. 3. The feature stories among other things must capture the essence of AMAA as a continental award system, its impact as well as regional and continental integration. 4. Entries must be published in well-known national newspapers, journals and or magazines. In the case of broadcast and online, it must be from a reputable radio and/or television stations and online medium of originating African country. 5. Entries must have verifiable date of publication and day of broadcast.  In case of newspaper, magazine or journal, it must be scanned copy of the published work. For broadcast, there must be evidence that the material was aired on recognized radio or television station. AMAA awards will take place later in April 2014.
