One of the greatest disservices you may currently be doing yourself is to think and believe that you cannot change your life. The truth of the matter is that you can change your life if you want.
You may quickly want to ask, why would I want to do that?
And the answer lies in this fact unless you do, your results may not change. So if you would change, every other thing you have going on for you will change. Here are 7 ways you can go about doing this.
Change Your Mindset
Your mindset refers to the set of beliefs you hold as an individual. These beliefs are what determine the way you think, the actions you take and the actions you avoid taking. Your present state or status in life is largely dependent on the content and quality of your mindset. It is the primary determining factor in your life.
Change Your Worldviews and Perspectives
Your worldviews determine the way you view the world external to you while your perspectives refer to the views you hold on things, people and events. Your worldviews are like a pair of eyeglasses. When you wear coloured glasses, for instance, it tends to present all images you see as being in the colour of the glasses.
Your life is affected greatly by your worldviews and perspectives because they determine how you interact with others and other life situations.
So if you are going to change your life, you must also change your worldviews if they have not been helping you.
Redefine Your Values
Your values as an individual refer to a set of principles and standards that guide your life. While so many of these are carefully and intentionally defined, for many others, these have not been carefully or intentionally defined.
You need to take out time to redefine your values as an individual if you are going to change your life. This is because your values affect what you choose to do and what you choose not to do, and how you feel about them at the end of the day.
For someone hoping to change his or her life, one of the most important values you should imbibe is that of responsibility.
Change Your Habits
Jim Rohn, a famous personal development expert said, “watch your actions, they become your habits. Watch your habits, they become your character.” Your habits are repetitive actions you take automatically, often without realizing that you are. It may interest you to know that about 40 to 45 percent of all you do every day are simply habits you have developed.
Most of these habits you developed without knowing that you did. However, if you are going to change your life, you are going to intentionally work on changing some of the current habits you have that are no longer serving you right and work to develop new ones that will help you. I have written previously on habits, including money habits and financial habits.
Change Your Sources Of Information
Information plays a huge role in your makeup as an individual. The information you take in determines what you think. They shape your thoughts and your thoughts in turn shape your actions and inactions.
The quality of information you have at your disposal determines the quality of your life. So if you are going to change your life, you must carefully work on changing the information you take in and the sources you come from. You must vet the books you read, the music you listen to, the movies you watch, the TV channels you see and the people you pay attention to.
Change Your Network
Your network simply refers to the people you know and have some form of relationship with. Your network affects you greatly and many often say that your network is your net worth. Your network is either adding to you or taking away from you. The relationships you have with people are of great importance and play a huge role in determining what comes to you. So if you are going to change your life for good, you must intentionally build a network that adds to you.
Change Your Goals
Your goals are another area of your life you will need to change to change your life. The present state of your life is a reflection of the quality of goals you have set for yourself in the past. To change your life, change your goals. Let your goals today reflect the quality of life you would love to have tomorrow.
