If you are yet to get your business run without you, then you’re yet to create a successful business. If your business shuts down because you are on vacation, then you’ve not created a successful business. The world’s leading businesses thrive by automation. Little wonder corporate leaders like Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, Larry Page and Sergey Brin can step down from their positions as CEOs or even retire and pursue other endeavours and still raking in billions of dollars into their companies and personal account. A business that operates fully and achieves its full potentials is an asset. Any intelligent entrepreneur will always strive to make his business run without him. However, many people find it difficult to make their business run without them. In this article, we shall highlight five ways you can make your business run without you.
  1. Employ Employees You Trust
The beginning of running a business that is not dependent on you is to have loyal, dedicated and trustworthy employees. There are ways you can earn their trust. You can either earn it by designing strategies that can get them to be loyal such as giving incentives, giving them a stake in the company and even increasing their role and responsibilities in the company or create regulated strategies such as restrictions, investing in surveillance and security, employing inventory tracking system, monitoring and evaluation system, conduct risk assessments, and train employees.
  1. Give Your Employees A Stake In The Business

Big businesses give their team every reason to stay in the company. As a wise entrepreneur, create an ownership culture within your company. Delegate roles with less monitoring. Create a reward system that can encourage workers to always want to give their best. However, you can also sell shares and equity to employees. This act can create a sense of collective gains and losses, thus making them give their best.

  1. Train And Empower Employees

Training and empowering loyal employees is the next step towards creating an independent company outside yourself. According to Bill Gates, leaders who will rule in the 21st century are those who empower others. Empowered leadership is the best way to build a company that is independent of you. Train your staff on best sales and management practices. Teach them what you know, including your sales strategy and business ethics. Furthermore, you have to get them to work in your shoes and think independently.
  1. Draft An Instructional Manual

Another aspect of creating an independent company outside of your presence is to draft an instructional manual that will regulate and drive your business’ mode of operation. Draft your employees manual or Standard Operating Procedures(SOPs). This set of rules and regulations will guide your employees in the day-to-day running of the organisation when you’re not around. Furthermore, your rule book should have exit and replacement models.
  1. Create Automatic Customers

Creating automatic customers is when your customers can get your products without actually having you personally deliver them. This is when you create a long-term contract delivery system whereby you are a supplier of particular goods that are needed for a long time. For example, you can be a company’s ICT maintenance provider. This will solve the problem of trying to seek customers. Featured Image Source: Powerful Accounting
