Therefore, it is demoralising when your efforts yield little results. Creating content is easy. Creating quality content is much harder. It takes time and skill. Thankfully, you have another 365 days to form good habits that will enable you to create good content. By following these 5 tips, you’ll be well on your way to becoming a high-quality content creator.

Read About Your Industry Every Day

The best content creators are those who know what’s happening in their industry. They succeed because they know what kind of content resonates with their target audience. To become good at this, you have to get into the habit of searching the internet for industry news and trends. You can make the process simpler by using an app such as Feedly to set up a feed for blogs that contain content relevant to your industry. Identify blogs that appeal to your buyer persona and sign up to those blogs too. Reading industry news every day will help you gain insights into the dynamics at play in your industry and the impact they have on your target audience.

Write Every Day

Content creation is a craft that relies greatly on ideas. And ideas are best put into perspective when they are written down. Adopt the habit of writing daily or every other day. You don’t have to write down a well-crafted essay of over 1000 words. Just aim to get down your thoughts and ideas on paper for at least 10 or 15 minutes every day. This could be about something you learnt recently or an idea you’ve been hatching.

Know Your Audience

No matter what you want to create, your content must meet the needs of your target audience otherwise you’ll fail to gain their attention. There are different ways of studying your audience. One is the direct way of studying them by demographic e.g. age, gender, location, occupation, salary, and so on. Another involves studying your competitors to know which areas they may be falling short in their content strategy, so you can fill that gap.

The others include creating buyers personas, monitoring readers’ comments and engagement, and conducting surveys. When studying your audience, ask yourself, “What are their pain points”? “What problems do they have that I can solve for them”?

Seek Out Resources

Don’t be afraid to use resources that are at your disposal. This is where research comes into play. Look up ebooks, infographics,  and other resources by reputable marketers in your industry to help you create better content. This might seem like a lot of work but it is a powerful way to hone your craft and learn from industry experts.

Establish A Unique Voice

For every industry, there are a thousand and one content creators targeting the same audience with similar content. How can you stand out from other content creators in your field? You can diversify your content, promote your content on several channels, and strive to become an authority in your field. But then, many of your competitors are also taking this same approach. The only way to circumvent this issue is by establishing your own voice. Create content to provide information but don’t forget to add in some personality. In your content, include analogies and personal stories of your experience with a particular product or service in your industry. Information might attract your readers but personality is what will keep them coming back for more.
