You can do 101 things but before one can start a business, there are certain things to avoid and they are;
  • Legal issues.
  • No patent.
  • Late deliveries.
  • Hygiene.
  • Poor customer service.
  1. Legal Issues

Whatever you do, do not ignore legal issues. If a business ignores the law, The law can mess with you. Find lawyers that know the demands of the law and would work towards getting your business up to par with all the demands of the law. This can be expensive at first but in the long run, you would be grateful. Avoid having legal issues because it is akin to building your business on sandy soil, anything can happen.
  1. No Patent

If the business is into sales or even common products it does not matter. Try to get a patent on those products or processes. It would be a shame to build a business from scratch and after it works, a clone business comes from nowhere and put you out of business. Worse still is when someone the business has trained comes along and takes away processes and clients.

  1. graceLate Deliveries

This is the third point and it is apt that it is not a physical thing to avoid. Words cannot emphasize the importance of avoiding late deliveries at all costs. It does not matter if it is a product or service, deliverables should get to clients on time. If a business does not avoid this, it would become a business that is seen as unreliable and this can cost them a lot in terms of clientele and credibility.
  1. Hygiene

If your business is centred around food or products that go into the stomach, hygiene is a must-do. Research shows that people are likely to go to establishments that have clean toilets. This may seem not normal but cleanliness is truly next to godliness and profitability. Even if the business is not selling food or products that go into the stomach, keep the environment clean. Hygiene is a real deal-breaker and should not be taken lightly.
  1. Poor Customer Service

Pick up those calls! Companies like PiggyVest and the likes do a great job with customer service and this allows customers to trust their service from the get-go. The early stages of a business are truly fragile and a lot can happen that would change the trajectory of the business. More often than not, people forget these things and take the early stages haphazardly. This should not be so as these founding years can make or break the profitability of the business. It is pertinent for business owners to make these a top priority if they want to excel in the early stages of a business. Featured Image Source: WBIUS
