Heifer International invites agritech companies to apply for its Pitch AgriHack 2021 Competition, for the chance to win cash prizes totalling $45,000.

The program aims to identify young innovators who are building scalable solutions that enable the resilience of Africa’s food system beyond the COVID-19 pandemic.

Besides cash prizes, winners of the competition will get support to expand their solutions so that it’s able to transform agriculture in Africa.

The prizes will be awarded to companies that are in one of these three categories: early stage, growth stage, and women-led.

•Be the founder or co-founder of the company they represent

How The Competition Will Unfold

Screening of applications will determine the top startups from the pool. Selected applicants will be put through a one-day Bootcamp, which will prepare them for their final pitches.

Besides the three categories mentioned earlier, there will be a fourth category of startups that have been invited by organizers. The winner of the invite-only category will receive $1.5 million in grants, available to ventures that are having a positive and measurable impact on African smallholder farmers.

Two winners will be selected from each of the four categories (six from the open category and two from the invite-only category). These winners will be announced at the AGRF Summit which takes place in Nairobi, Kenya, from September 6-10.

Besides winning cash prizes, winning startups will also have their business profiles published in a Deal Book that will be distributed at the AGRF Summit. This gives them exposure to the investors who will be attending the event.

Applications to the Pitch AgriHack competition are open until August 16, 2021.
