“Little drops of water make a mighty ocean.” – Julia Carney
This principle applies to everything in life. If you want to change any aspect of your life, you have to start from somewhere. That “somewhere” often involves taking action in at least one area of your life. Just making a change in one area can reflect on other areas of your life.
Below are 4 steps you can take to change your life today.
Just do something
Most times we stay stuck trying to start in the perfect way or not knowing exactly what we should do to change our lives. The truth is we may never find a way unless with just start something. This could actually be anything. As long as it has some potential for improving your life and it is a productive activity, go for it! Once you take action, you’ll figure out whether it’s right for you or not and you’ll get motivated to keep going.
Create a system of healthy habits
The habits you form make you. Rather than obsessing over your goals and not taking any action, commit to creating a system that will enable you to accomplish them. When it comes to forming habits, it is important to remember that less is more. You can start by committing to carry out the simple act of making your bed first thing in the morning or doing 5 pushups every day. Whatever you do, ensure that it is something that can build your discipline and help you in reaching your goals.
Know yourself
Self-awareness is a key aspect of knowing how to motivate yourself, deal with others, and handle the relationships in your life. To sum it up, self-awareness is a common trait in those who can conquer life regardless of what it throws at them. There are several ways to become self-aware including meditation, writing down your goals and aspirations, and keeping a journal.
Gratitude
In as much as you want to change your life, it is also important to stop and reflect on all the ways you have it good. This doesn’t mean you should lower your standards. All it requires is to be grateful for what you have while you’re working towards achieving more things. Start appreciating the little things in life like a friend’s support, speaking to your loved ones, your skills and talents. If you can be happy about the little things, then you’ll even be happier when you change your life.
