  Patience Okon George has established herself as one of the finest quarter-miler Nigeria has ever seen. Born November 25, 1991, Okon made the headlines after winning bronze at the African Championships in Marrakesh, 2014, and went on to win gold for Nigeria in the 4x400m relay event.

At the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2014, Okon was part of the Nigerian relay team that finished second behind Jamaica. She ran the first leg of the 4x400m relay on August 2, 2014. Her career hit an all-time high in 2015 when for the first time, she went under the 51 seconds barrier to set a new Personal Best of 50.76s in the 400m race event at the Resisprint Meeting in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland.

Okon would equal her Personal Best in the semi-final of the 400m event at the 2015 World Championship to qualify as the third fastest in her heat category. Despite her impressive outings in the year 2015, she was not done yet as she went on to win silver at 2015 All Africa Games with a new Personal Best of 50.71s. Aside from competing at the 2015 World Championships in Athletics (400m) in Beijing, China, Okon boasts of two African Championship bronze medals in the individual 400 metres and was at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.
