Are you a good writer? Do you think your stories are good enough to be published by the best publishers in Nigeria? If yes, then the Campus Writing Challenge is the chance you’ve been waiting for.

Campus Writing Challenge

This initiative by Nigeria’s top e-publishing platform, Okadabooks, sponsored by Union Bank Nigeria, is aimed at discovering students with crude creative writing talents and up to par story telling prowess —and exposing them to the right materials to make them master story tellers.

Open to only students of tertiary institutions in Nigeria, entries must be submitted before Sunday, October 7, 2018, and each story must have a word count of between 3,000 and 5,000, to stand a chance of being selected to win the big prizes.

The winning story will receive a cash prize of ₦500,000, while the second and third best stories will be awarded ₦200,000 and ₦100,000, respectively. In the final award category, the entry with the best designed short story cover will receive ₦50,000. Meanwhile, the audience will also get a chance to pick their best-loved for the ‘Audience Favorite’ award.

Winning and short-listed works will be forwarded to leading publishing houses in Nigeria for a chance to get published in a bid to help them jumpstart their careers.

The stories will be judged by author, facilitator of Awake Creative Trust and winner of the 2003 BBC Short Story Competition, Chika Unigwe; and by Abubakar Ibrahim Adam, creative writer and winner of the 2016 Nigeria Prize for Literature award.

Now that you’ve got your big chance, why not take it by submitting your entry to Union Bank.
