ConnectNigeria_EbolaContained The Nigerian government’s effort in containing the spread of the Ebola Virus Disease has been complimented by the Director-General, World Health Organization, WHO, Margaret Chan during an emergency session of the United Nations Security Council on Ebola on Thursday. She noted that although the outbreak affected five West African countries and is the greatest peacetime challenge that the UN and its agencies have ever faced, Nigeria and Senegal have been able to stabilize the situation in their countries. Following the disease outbreak, Nigeria has recorded 19 confirmed cases with 12 survivors. The last case was successfully discharged on September 10 from the Ebola Isolation Centre. Nigeria celebrates one week as an Ebola free country after weeks of fighting this deadly disease.
