Stress

Stress affects testosterone levels to a large extent. When you’re stressed, your brain releases a hormone called cortisol. This hormone and testosterone have an inverse relationship. The more cortisol your body produces, the lower your testosterone levels. So, it is important to cut out stress from your life if you want to keep your testosterone at optimal levels. Try to take breaks from your work when you can, eat a balanced diet, exercise more, and spend time with loved ones.

Staying Up Too Late At Night

Asides from making you tired, a lack of sleep also affects the regulation of hormones in the body. This hormonal imbalance can contribute to your testosterone levels dropping significantly. In order to keep your testosterone levels balanced and maintain a healthy lifestyle in general, you should try to get at least 7-10 hours of sleep every night

Not Getting The Right Nutrients

The nature of today’s world means that most people tend to be busy and unable to manage their diet effectively. They may eat fast food because there’s hardly time to cook, and hence not be getting the required amounts of nutrients. This can have a negative impact on hormones such as testosterone. When it comes to testosterone, you should be eating foods that are rich in zinc, magnesium, amino acids, and vitamin D.

Soy Products

Foods including dairy products, alcohol, and soy products may lower the levels of testosterone. Some studies show that regularly eating soy products such as edamame, tofu, soy milk, and miso may cause a drop in testosterone levels.

Refined Carbohydrates

When you eat refined carbohydrates such as white bread, white pasta, and sugar-sweetened beverages, they cause your insulin levels to spike up. An increase in insulin levels disrupts your central hormone pathways, resulting in a drop in testosterone levels.
