Fortunately, there are steps you can take if you find yourself feeling tired all the time. Here 4 reasons you always feel tired and things you can do to fix these problems.
Living A Sedentary Life
Prolonged sitting has been linked to several health problems, from weight gain to cancer, and to deep vein thrombosis. One overlooked cause of a sedentary life is chronic tiredness. Research suggests that while most people who suffer from chronic tiredness may be reluctant to exercise due to low energy and endurance, exercise may reduce their fatigue. If you have low energy and find it difficult to exercise, start small by replacing your sedentary behaviours with active ones. For instance, take the staircase instead of the elevator and walk instead of driving short distances.Lack Of Quality Sleep
Poor sleeping habits may explain why one may experience fatigue. Sleep facilitates several functions in the body such as memory optimisation and hormonal release which help in regulating the body’s metabolism and energy levels. This is what enables you to wake up feeling refreshed and energised. Research shows that you need up to seven hours of sleep per night for optimal health. To ensure you’re getting high-quality sleep, make sure your sleep is restful and uninterrupted. Endeavour to stick to a regular sleep routine.Sign up to the Connect Nigeria daily newsletter
Dehydration
Your energy levels are greatly impacted by how much water you consume. This is because biochemical reactions in the body lead to a loss of water that needs to be replaced. If you don’t drink sufficient amounts of water to replace the water lost during these processes, your body will experience dehydration. Several studies have linked even mild dehydration to decreased energy levels and the inability to focus. The recommended quantity of water to drink daily is about 2 litres.Stress
Although stress is a normal aspect of everyday life, excessive levels of stress can have detrimental effects on the body’s energy levels. One study suggested that your response to stress has a greater impact on how tired you feel more than experiencing the stress itself. This means that if you avoid stressful situations, you may be at risk of greater levels of fatigue than if you decide to deal with the situation. While it may be difficult to avoid stressful situations, developing strategies to help you to cope can prevent exhaustion and tiredness. Featured Image Source: ShutterstockGot a suggestion?
